Guild of Food Writers Annual Awards Ceremony 2017

The 2017 GFW awards ceremony is one of the best I have attended in recent years.  Wonderful  venue (The Oval), free flowing cocktails, wines and soft drinks,  and very generous and varied number of canapes.

Wines from Lebanon was quite an eye opener.  Domaine des Tourelles is apparently one of the finest boutique wineries in the Middle East.  It was founded by Frenchman Francois-Eugene Brun and wines from this region is today exported to 15 countries  around the world. The winery is owned by two passionate families who believe in preserving the original heritage and they undertake all aspects of wine making including marketing the wines.

The original concrete vats of the winery are still in use today providing the best biological conditions for a natural wine making process.  This method provides the authentic taste of Lebanon’s terroir.  It is no surprise that Domaine des Tourreles wines have gained recognition in international press reviews and competitions.  The wines were smooth and easy drinking and had a pleasant bouquet.  I would drink this wine every day if I could!
